MoLG Engages Acholi Leaders Ahead of RUDSEC Road Works
The Ministry of Local Government (MoLG) has engaged political and technical leaders in the Acholi sub-region to present findings of environmental and social assessments for roads under the Rural Development and Food Security in Northern Uganda (RUDSEC) project, ahead of the start of works.

The Batch I roads in Acholi cover Agago, Lamwo, and Pader districts. In Agago District, the selected roads are Nyakayuma–Onudapet–Otuke Border (18.5km) and Nyek–Kakute–Kuludwong (21.1km). In Lamwo District, the roads include Lelabul–Olebi (16.7km) and Lacara–Laguri–Oget (26.4km). In Pader District, the project will cover Boloagweng–Aruu Falls (16.6km) and Lapul–Oweka–Bongtiko–Okinga (24.8km).
The Nyakayuma–Onudapet–Otuke Border and Boloagweng–Aruu Falls sections required full Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, while the rest were cleared through Project Briefs in line with the law.
Beyond improving transport and market access, the Boloagweng–Aruu Falls road will enhance connectivity to the renowned Aruu Falls in Pader District, boosting tourism and local economic growth.
RUDSEC is a joint initiative of the Government of Uganda and the Government of Germany funded through KfW Development Bank which aims to upgrade rural roads, improve farmers’ access to markets, reduce transport costs, and boost household incomes in Northern Uganda.
The meeting that happened in Pader District brought together Chief Administrative Officers, District Political Leaders, District Engineers, Natural Resources Officers, Community Development Officers and other technical staff from Agago, Lamwo and Pader districts, alongside Ministry officials and project consultants
